DEA officials report fluctuating numbers on drug use in Laredo
Laredo has seen a decline in overdose-related deaths, but there are still fluctuations in cocaine, methamphetamine and fentanyl. A three-year-old child at a local school almost died from an overdose. The DEA's Overdose Task Force is trying to raise awareness about how these drugs enter schools.

Arrested those responsible for the laboratory investigated by a hundred deaths per fentanilo in Argentina
A judge ordered the arrest of around a dozen entrepreneurs and technical professionals linked to the production and distribution of contaminated clinical fentanyl in Argentina. Almost a hundred people died as a result of the drug. The investigation began last May after the first cases of infected patients after receiving adulterated fentanyl were detected in April.
Dillon Johnson, 37, pleaded guilty on August 19 to involuntary manslaughter in connection with the fentanyl-induced overdose of Matthew Dyet on April 29, 2022. Matthew, 30, was found dead behind a building the next morning. Johnson was arrested on September 1, 2022, while allegedly transporting and possessing fentanyl and methamphetamine for sale. He will be sentenced on October 14, 2025.
