Donald Trump will visit China at some point this year. Donald Trump and Xi Jinping have already met once this year for a summit in Beijing. Xi is expected to visit the United States in September for a state visit and again in December for the Group of 20 meeting. Trump will attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit scheduled for November 18-19 in Shenzhen.

The Tibet Aid Program (TAP) for China’s Tibet Autonomous Region was officially launched following the Third National Tibet Work Forum in 1994. Under Xi Jinping, the focus emphasized assertion of soft power with infrastructure developments. The program functions through institutionalization of the 15th Five Year Plan (2026-2030), the deployment of “group style” aid cohorts, and the exploitation of frontier governance as a career launching pad for Han Chinese cadres.

President Donald Trump signed a deal with Iran on Wednesday. Iran will receive $300 billion for reconstruction and economic development. Vice President J.D. Vance was scheduled to attend the signing ceremony in Switzerland on Friday before news broke that Trump had signed the deal.
