Study covers 12 years of in-custody deaths at 7 detention facilities in San Diego County. It will be presented at next month’s Citizens’ Law Enforcement Review Board meeting. The meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. on May 7 at the SanDiego County Administration Center.

El Salvador holds mass trial for 486 alleged members of notorious MS-13 gang

A Salvadoran court on Tuesday began a collective trial of 486 alleged gang members. The charges include homicide, femicide, extortion and arms trafficking. It is one of the biggest mass trials under president Nayib Bukele’s crackdown on gang violence through controversial emergency powers. Human rights groups have warned that the collective prosecutions violate due process and block defendants from accessing legal counsel.

90 Palestinian women held in Israeli prisons, rights group says

90 Palestinian women are being held in Israeli prisons. Most of them are detained at Damon prison in northern Israel. They face harsh conditions, including hunger, deprivation, medical neglect, abuse, solitary confinement and assaults. More than 700 women have been detained since the start of the Gaza war in October 2023.

Ms. Rachel talked to seven families detained at the Dilley Immigration Processing Center in Texas. She started a petition to shut down the facility. The petition has been signed by more than 250,000 people, including Madonna, Pedro Pascal, Jane Fonda, Javier Bardem, Keke Palmer, Mark Ruffalo and dozens of other celebrities.

The state-run facility was not under federal control and was not subject to federal law requiring an environmental impact review. Nearly 60,000 immigrants are being held in detention in the U.S. today. Some of them are children as young as five years old. The number of detainees who have been in ICE custody for more than a year has skyrocketed in recent months. The El Gamal family has been in detention for over a year. Their father, Mohamed Soliman, is accused of throwing molotov cocktails into a crowd in Boulder, Colorado. The family was arrested for overstaying their tourist visas in 2023, but they were released in April 2026.
