Even The Mainstream Media Is Admitting That The Coming Global Food Crisis Has Now Arrived

There is an El Niño in the Pacific Ocean. It is predicted to be the strongest of the current "Super El Niño". It is expected to cause food shortages in the whole world. The Strait of Hormuz war in Iran has been going on for 100 days. 45 million more people now face food insecurity as a result of the war in the Gulf. The situation in Somalia is getting worse.

Climate Change and the Future of Central Asia-South Asia Connectivity

The Hindu Kush Himalaya region, which stretches across Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, Myanmar, Nepal, and Pakistan, is the epicenter of the climate emergency confronting Central and South Asia. The glaciers across the 3,500-kilometer arc are retreating 65 percent faster than in the previous decade. The region has already recorded a 23-year low in snow persistence for the third consecutive year. Central Asia has already warmed by 1.2 degrees C, which has led to a 20 percent decline in snow depth.

America’s Go-To Climate Scientist

Daniel Swain is a climatologist whose specialty is how global climate change messes with local weather. He does more than 200 media interviews a year and has become one of the country's most influential explainers of the weather's relationship to the climate. In January 2025, he was getting ready to publish a major paper as easterly winds were picking up across a Southern California landscape packed with grass after the previous, wet winter and dry after a largely rainless autumn.

Iran says water supply restored to thousands cut off after US strikes

Water supply to villages in southern Iran has been restored after US strikes hit reservoirs, state television reported on Thursday. Water and desalination facilities have been among the most critical and vulnerable infrastructure targets since the outbreak of the war between Iran, Israel and the United States on February 28. Washington had said the strikes were carried out in response to Iran’s downing of a US Army Apache helicopter over Gulf waters.

Kenya is Africa’s first country to receive crucial climate disaster funding

Kenya became the first African nation to receive landmark climate disaster funding. It will be used to identify Kenyans who have suffered climate-related losses and damages during the last decade. Festus Ng’eno, principle secretary for Kenya’s Environment, Climate Change and Forestry, announced the achievement at a recent U.N. climate meeting in Bonn, Germany.

A data center caused an uproar in Utah. Congress is watching (and waiting)

Utah residents are protesting against a proposed data center. The project has been dramatically scaled back after public outcry. Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., is pushing for federal laws to protect against encroachment on natural resources. The state of drought in Utah is exacerbated by low snowfalls and rising temperatures.

El Niño has begun. It may become the strongest this century

NOAA's latest outlook confirms that El Niño has begun as warm water sloshes eastward to the normally chilly ocean off Peru’s coast. It estimated a 63% chance the El Niño will grow into a very strong event later this year. Forecasters gained confidence after clearing a hurdle known as the “spring predictability barrier”

Governor announces release of millions intended to help clean up Tijuana River Valley

Gov. Gavin Newsom announced Thursday that the state is sending $46 million in voter-approved funding to help clean up the contaminated Tijuana River at the California-Mexico border. Since 2018, more than 100 billion gallons of raw sewage filled with industrial chemicals and trash have poured into the river.
