The Supreme Court sided with the maker of Roundup weedkiller in a ruling expected to block thousands of lawsuits alleging it failed to warn people the product could cause cancer. The high court, in a 7-2 ruling, held that Roundup cannot be sued in state courts for failure to warn because federal regulators have found a cancer link unlikely and do not require a warning label. Environmental groups and lawyers representing people who believe they were harmed by Roundup denounced the ruling.

In the 19th century, cancer was a medical rarity in the United States. Since 1950, the incidence of cancer in the U.S. had increased to about 130 to 160 cases per 100,000 people, and by 1975 it had reached 400. The rise has been closely related to changes in diet, especially the increase in linoleic acid (LA) intake. LA has been associated with altered cell membrane structure, which may increase susceptibility to oxidation, chronic inflammation, and immune stress. Pentadecanoic acid and choline help stabilize membranes, support mitochondrial and immune function, and counteract LA-driven damage.

According to Dr. Edward Stets, groundwater depletion is a major reason for potential water shortages. There is also an ongoing mega drought in the Western United States. Snowfall in the West has been very low this year, especially in the mountains.
USDA Inspector General John Walk warned Congress on Thursday that fraud in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) has allowed individuals linked to terrorist groups, foreign adversaries and transnational criminal organizations to access and abuse food stamps. Republicans argue that gaps in oversight and data sharing have allowed billions of taxpayer dollars to be lost to fraud and abuse within the nation's food stamp program. Democrats argue the hearing could be used to justify cuts to food assistance for eligible Americans.
