A new proposal from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services could reduce costs for some beneficiaries by cutting a longstanding payment disparity. The proposal is part of CMS's proposed 2027 outpatient payment rule. It would expand "site-neutral" payments for certain imaging services provided at hospital-owned outpatient facilities. The change would reduce beneficiary cost-sharing obligations by approximately $70 million in 2027 alone.

Thousands of nurses returned to work at Brigham and Women's Hospital on Monday morning. About 4,000 nurses walked off the job last Wednesday for a one-day strike that stretched into five days.
