A Divided World Is North Korea’s Greatest Asset

For years, the U.S.-led international campaign to isolate North Korea depended on a united front between the United States, China, and Russia. Now, North Korea has been gifted perhaps its greatest strategic asset: a fractured world in which great-power rivalry has eroded the political foundations that once made these sanctions effective. Sanctions aren't entirely dead, but relying on economic isolation alone to compel North Korea’s denuclearization is no longer a viable strategy in an era of intense geopolitical rivalry.

Is North Korea Pursuing a “Juche-Oriented” Nuclear Triad?

North Korea is the latest nuclear-armed state to diversify its nuclear force’s basing modes. Cold War strategic culture has emphasized the importance of having a triad of intercontinental nuclear delivery systems with land, sea and air-based “legs” to maximize stability and assure retaliation. North Korea's nuclear force began in the early 1990s exclusively based on road-mobile short- and medium-range ballistic missiles (SRBMs and MRBMs). It has since grown to include road- mobile intercontinental ballistic missiles and theater-range land-attack cruise missiles (LACMs).

Innovation under fire: Ukraine’s energy defense is a blueprint for the world

Ukraine has spent the past four years building an energy system capable of surviving in wartime conditions. Iran has attacked oil refineries in Saudi Arabia, LNG facilities in Qatar and fuel terminals in the UAE and Bahrain recently. Ukraine has been aware of this new military reality for more than four years and moved rapidly in spring 2026 to share its expertise. It has deployed over two hundred counter-drone specialists to the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

Ukraine will build 5M drones in 2026. NATO must learn how: deputy commander

Ukraine is making thousands of times more drones now than when Russia invaded four years ago. The U.S. war on Iran has shown how quickly a conflict can consume arsenals of costly, exquisite weapons. Epic Fury is an example of how the changing threat environment means the U.s. can't manage two ongoing conflicts at once.
